TWO martial arts fanatics have decided that a 26 mile marathon is not enough of a challenge and are going to attempt to run it bare foot.
Alex Johnson, 24, of Bury St Edmunds intends to run the London Marathon bare foot with his friend and fellow martial arts instructor Mathew Wilson, 25, of Nottingham.
Alex said: “Traditional martial arts such as karate are always done bare foot and martial artists do go for runs bare foot as it toughens up your feet.”
The pair ran a half-marathon in Liverpool bare foot last weekened as part of their training.
Alex said: “It’s much much harder in terms of fitness the distance is OK but it’s the change of ground that makes it so hard, it turns stoney and you just have to keep going.”
Alex and Mathew are raising money for The Children’s Society.
