Police are appealing for information after a man suffered a fractured skull after being attacked and robbed in Stowmarket.

The incident happened between 8.50pm and 10.30pm on Monday.

The 21-year-old was walking home when he felt a hand on his shoulder and he was then assaulted by two males in an alleyway off Needham Road, that runs towards Glemsford Road.

It is thought he was knocked unconscious and when he came round his Addidas bag, containing a Samsung phone, a brown wallet and other items, were missing.

He went to Ipswich hospital where he was X-rayed and found to have a fractured skull. He also sustained swelling and bruising to his face.

The attackers are both thought to be white. One is described as in his 20s to early 30s, around 6ft 2ins tall, of medium build, with spiky gelled dark hair and facial stubble. He was wearing a black tracksuit.

The other was shorter at around 5ft 7ins tall, of stocky build, in his late teens to mid 20s and was wearing a dark grey tracksuit and a black beanie hat with a bobble on.

Detectives are asking anyone who may recognise the description or may have seen two men in the area between these times to call west Suffolk CID on 101, quoting crime number 25122/16.
