A man who drove a quad bike on the road while drinking from a can of Stella Artois beer has been disqualified from driving.

A man who drove a quad bike on the road while drinking from a can of Stella Artois beer has been disqualified from driving.

Kevin Richard Flint, 33, of Pine Close, Thetford, pleaded guilty to driving while above the alcohol limit and driving without insurance at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on October 17.

Lesla Small, prosecuting, told the court police officers had caught Flint driving the quad bike in Aspen Close, Thetford, with no insurance while over the drink drive limit on October 1.

Declan Gallagher, mitigating, said the quad bike belonged to Flint’s son.

He said Flint had drunk a ‘small amount’ of alcohol and decided to go and visit a friend who lived a three minute walk away.

Mr Gallagher said: “It did not dawn on him he may have been committing an offence.”

Flint was fined £100, told to pay costs of £45 and a victim surcharge of £20.

He was disqualified from driving for 15 months to be reduced by three months on completion of course.

Magistrate Mr A Carmichael said: “A quad bike is perhaps not thought of as a road going vehicle - never the less you must not use any motorised vehicle on a public road.”
