AN AIRMAN from the 48th Fighter Wing, RAF Lakenheath, has died after being involved in a collision with a vehicle on the A1101 on Monday night.
Police were called just before 11pm to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a blue Rover outside the main gate of RAF Mildenhall.
An air ambulance and two rapid response vehicles attended the scene where police officers were performing CPR but the 20-year-old man Tyler Patton died on the scene.
The road was closed for around four hours and diversions were put in place.
Col Bill Lewis, 48th Fighter Wing vice commander, said: “The Liberty Wing suffered a tragic loss last night. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the Liberty Airman killed in yesterday’s accident.”
The vehicle was driven by an airman from the 352nd Special Operations Group, RAF Mildenhall.
