FOUR lucky staff at Sainsbury’s in Mildenhall have tickets to attend the Paralympics on Monday.

They are among 5,000 Sainsbury colleagues who have been chosen and will be able to watch the wheelchair basketball events.

Keturah Cumber, 18, from Brandon, whose younger sister Harriet is deaf and has learning disabilities, was one of those chosen.

She said: I am really excited about it. It is really important that people have the same oppportunities as others and have their special day.

“I really enjoy supporting my sister and it’s going to be great to see and learn about the Paralympic Games. It’s also a great opportunity to meet other colleagues from across the country.”

Joining Keturah are Mary Westhead, Lee Appleyard and Linda McCloughlin. Linda was put forward as an ‘exceptional colleague’ because of her outstanding contribution to customer services,

Store manager John Smith said staff were invited to fill in applications to be chosen to attend the Paralympics saying why they wanted to go and were then selected by the store’s colleague council.

John will also be joining them on Monday at the Games, which are sponsored by Sainsbury.
