The next Jamie Oliver, Michel Roux Jr or Delia Smith could be found in Mildenhall this Summer.
Youngsters will enjoy free classes in basic cookery, learning about nutrition, knife handling and food and personal hygiene.
The Prepare 2 Cook classes, which will take place at the Mildenhall Dome Leisure Centre, have been jointly funded by Forest Heath District Councillors Nigel Roman, John Bloodworth, John McGhee and Tony Wheble, who each contributed £400 from their locality budgets.
Cllr McGhee said: “These classes are about engaging children in basic cookery skills, which will encourage healthy eating within the family and for generations to come,”
Cllr Roman said: “These classes are open to youngsters aged between 5 and 15 from the Mildenhall area. The first class, which was fully booked within 2 days, took place during the half term holidays this week, and we fully expect them to prove popular throughout the school summer holidays.”
Classes will take place from July 29 to August 26 on Tuesdays from 11am to 1pm. Places are limited.
