Woman suffers serious injuries in Beck Row collision

An elderly woman was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge yesterday after sustaining serious injuries in a collision with a car in Beck Row.

Police were called by a member of the public shortly after 4:30pm to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the A1101 near Rookery Drove.

A black Mercedes collided with a woman, aged in her 60s, who was walking on the pavement, causing her serious injuries.

The woman was taken to Addenbrooke’s by air ambulance and the male driver of the Mercedes was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, although his injuries were not believed to be serious.

The road was closed last night while the Serious Collision Investigation Team carried out an investigation.
