St Edmundsbury Borough and Forest Heath District Councils are to take on 10 new apprentices this year.
The authorities already have 10 apprentices at various stages of their studies while 18 of their current staff started their careers through apprenticeships with West Suffolk.
Millie Royal, who is an apprentice in HR, said ‘earning and learning had been the biggest benefit while gaining an insight to working in the public sector’.
Ian Gallin, chief executive of both councils, completed a Youth Training Service apprenticeship at Devon County Council. He said: “Apprenticeships are about putting young people into work to develop key skills - their value to any organisation or business cannot be underestimated.”
The closing date for applications is May 30. Visit stedmundsbury.gov.uk or forest-heath.gov.uk
