A voluntary environmental group from Stowmarket has filled an entire skip with rubble and rubbish found at the side of the River Gipping.
The Pickerel Project has been conducting a monthly clean-up of the river on the first weekend of every month and a ‘Rubble Weekend’ every year for the heavier waste.
Sian Copeman from the group said it was incredible what makes it way into the river system
She said: “This year’s clean-up was a real success.
“We filled the whole skip on our rubble weekend.
“We pulled a pram out of the water and other artefacts you had no idea you would find in there.
“We do it annually because we need all the ropes, equipment and the skip to get rid of the heavier items.”
The group next meet at Prentice Road car park in Stowmarket on Sunday May 4.
Sian said they are looking to spend most of the day painting. “What we do on a clear up depends on the time of the year”, she said.
“This next weekend we will be painting the bridge opposite the Pickerel Pub while the weather is nice.
“If you could spare an hour or so helping to improve the natural beauty of the river, don’t be shy - come along,” she added.
