A ‘completely different’ club will be opening in Bury St Edmunds in the next two weeks.
Daniel Bird, the owner of Club Brazilia in Station Road, says he has spent £140,000 refurbishing the Vision night club across the road and plans a VIP opening soon.
“It’s going to take over from Brazilias, which will be pulled down later this year for redevelopment now the lease has run out,” he said.
“Vision will be something completely different. Brazilias is out of date, it’s run its course and the town needs something completely different.
“I don’t want to let too much out of the bag but we’ll have a proper stage and there can potentially be three rooms of music there.”
The refurbishment extends the old Vision into the building behind, which backs on to the Lucky Break Snooker Club in Tayfen Road, which he has already reopened.
Mr Bird added: “We’ve bought the site, we’re not leasing, which gives us a better future.”
He was unable to give a firm date for the opening because the refurbishment is extensive, including complete rewiring of the building.
Mr Bird took over Brazilia in 2011 after its owners Luminar Leisure collapsed following the death of a woman in a crush at one of its clubs in Northampton. He closed the Vision club in mid-2012.
