Video: Dancing in the street to raise awareness about violence against women

Bury St Edmunds Multicultural Women’s Group danced in Charter Square as part of an international event raising awareness of violence against women.

While the group danced in Bury St Edmunds others were performing the same moves around the world as part of the One Billion Rising event.

Director of Bury St Edmunds Multicultural Group, Faith Stabler, said: “We are hosting this event to highlight One Billion Rising which is a global event with approximatly 200 countries involved today to highlight issues of violence against women.

“Lots of people think it’s not there but it’s in all levels, all classes and all areas. These are important areas.”

Bury St Edmunds Multicultural Women’s Group is a social group of women from around the world, living in Bury, who organise social events, speakers and activities as well as offering support.
