A man is in critical condition after being found with severe burns close to a supermarket in Thetford last night.
Emergency services were called to reports of a man in distress in the Norwich Road area at about 9.45pm and found him with severe burns close to Tesco.
The man, who lives locally and is aged in his 20s, was taken by air ambulance to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds.
He has since been transferred to Broomfield Hospital, in Chelmsford, where his condition is described as critical.
A spokesman for Norfolk Police said: “Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances leading upto the incident however, at this stage no-one else is believed to be involved.”
A Tesco spokesperson said: “An ambulance was called last night to our store in Thetford. Colleagues assisted them at the scene. We wish the gentleman a full recovery.”
