The driver of a grain loader was thrown from his cab following a collision with a lorry on the A14 at Barrow today.

The loader overturned ejecting the driver, a man in his 50s, onto the central reservation of the dual-carriageway.

He was treated at the scene by a Suffolk Accident Rescue Service volunteer doctor and taken to West Suffolk Hospital for further checks though his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The A14’s westbound carriageway was closed between junction 42 Bury St Edmunds West and junction 38 Newmarket East. The Highways Agency also reported delays on the eastbound carriageway on the same stretch of road, where the accident closed one lane. The agency and police said the road was reopened at 4.45pm but delays are expected until 6pm.
