News from the Bury Free Press

The A14 has reopened after traffic chaos caused by an overturned cattle trailer near Bury St Edmunds this morning.

The eastbound carriageway between junctions 42, Bury West, and 43, the sugar beet factory, was closed while three cattle and an overturned trailer and Land Rover are recovered.

The cattle were moved onto the verge and police say officers at the scene requested lightweight fencing to enclose them until transport could be arranged.

The accident happened just before 9am and the Highways Agency was reporting traffic delays along the A14 from the A11 to Woolpit until 11.30am.

A police spokesman said: “There have been no injuries to humans or cows.”
