Channeling the spirit of Indiana Jones, families discovered a treasure trove of adventurous activities in Bury St Edmunds in aid of charity.

The ‘Raiders of the Lost arc’ event at the arc shopping centre included a petting zoo with snakes, owls and other creepy crawlies and archaeology tombola where participants dug for their ticket in a sand pit.

The event raised £901.13 for St Nicholas Hospice Care and was organised for the charity’s Towergate Accumulator Challenge, which sees businesses compete to raise as much money as possible for the hospice.

Colin Roberts, arc centre manager, said: “It’s always a pleasure to host events that are entertaining and for a very worthy, local charity. I just want to express my appreciation and thanks to all the volunteers involved and of course the people that attended to make it such a success.”

On Sunday, the Bury Saints American Football team will be at the arc with a contest to win a family meal platter at Nando’s for the Accumulator Challenge.
