Two tractors which were rebuilt by a much loved Bury St Edmunds mechanic rolled up to his funeral service as a testament to his legacy.

The vehicles Jack and Mike were the first and last to be restored by grandfather Steve ‘Spider’ Sharpe, who passed away suddenly aged 59.

They were brought to his funeral at Southgate Church on Monday, which about 50 to 70 people attended.

His sister Linda Baldry said the service led by the Rev Peter Gibson was a celebration of his life.

When it was rebuilt, the tractor Jack was used to raise awareness of children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent. A collection was held at Mr Sharpe’s funeral for the charity and will continue at Fulchers, in St John’s Street, for six weeks.
