More than 6,000 people joined in the fun at the 46th annual Weeting Steam Engine Rally at the weekend.

This year’s Rally and Country Show proved a hit with families who basked in the sunshine and enjoyed an array of spectacular displays.

Visitors were treated to more than 140 tractors, 60 steam engines, dog agility demonstrations and helicopter rides across the showground.

There were also 70 trade stands and a vintage fairground.

New for this year, the main ring event featured Banham Zoo and Friends’ Heavy Horse display which held demonstrations throughout the weekend.

Wendy Young, the Rally Coordinator, said: “The Heavy Horses were a highlight. We had four different types of horse and nine or 10 altogether. The working demonstrations were very popular.”

Whilst Saturday was a lot quieter due to bad weather, Wendy said: “Sunday made up for the weekend”, with the crowds flocking in as temperatures soared.

It was possibly the biggest and most popular show in their history.

Mrs Young said: “We did a survey this year and we had over 1,000 responses.

“The feedback was very positive. The only complaints we had were that it was too hot!”
