A band formed to raise cash for St Nicholas Hospice Care - The Donations - are preparing for their debut gig.
Made up of members of the hospice staff, the band are performing at the Hunter Club for a one-off fund-raising gig on April 4.
The troupe includes Kevin Clements on lead guitar, Aaron Birgeforth on bass, Georgina Bissell on keys, Nick Duncan on drums and singers Laura Beardsell-Moore, Lucy Alfred, Jordan Hughes and Caroline Tatum.
The band was formed after Kevin, Fund-raising and Marketing Director at the Hospice, realised the wealth of musical talent among the team.
He said: “I have a very talented and creative team, some of whom I recently discovered were undercover musicians and singers. We thought it would be fun to get together and do something different to raise money for the hospice.
“All the money raised through the gig will go towards my London Marathon fund-raising target.”
Singer Lucy Alfred, the Hospice’s Design and Events Officer said the band would put on a great show.
She said: “The band is a range of ages, so we’ve got a really eclectic mix of tunes. We’ve tried to stay away from the usual cover band tracks, so expect some surprises. That’s all I can say, as we are trying to keep the set list secret.”
Tickets to the gig are £10 each including a rustic hot meal of curry or chilli con carne and are available from SoundsPlus, in Risbygate Street, online at www.stnicholashospicecare.org.uk or on the door.
