A Feltwell teenager who was diagnosed with a brain tumour aged 14 has organised a fun day to support other young people battling cancer.

Leanne Walpole, 19, hopes to raise £1,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust at the fun day on May 24.

She said: “The Teenage Cancer Trust were like my family at the hospital. When my mum and dad needed to take a break they would always come up and sit with me.

“They would play games, watch telly, do anything to keep my mind off what was happening.”

Leanne, who has worked as a carer, had a successful operation to remove the tumour but remains on medication.

On May 24 at St Mary’s Church, Feltwell, she will host a fun-day from 10am-2pm including a raffle, tombola, bouncy castle, face painting and much more.

Since she spent time at Addenbrooke’s Hospital the Teenage Cancer Trust has been able to open its own unit, which the event will support.

Leanne’s fund-raising will be bolstered by the Feltwell Beer Festival, which will also support the trust.
