After 13 years working from a Portakabin, the six garden staff and 70 gardening volunteers at Ickworth House now have a grade one listed ‘home’.

On Monday longest serving volunteer Dorothy Cartright cut a ribbon with a pair of garden sheers on the National Trust property’s new outdoor staff’s accommodation in what was once the house stables’ tack room.

It has been sympathetically restores so that while it offers showers and tea making facilities, it retains the hooks bridles and saddles were once stored on.
