The sugar beet campaign in Bury St Edmunds got underway today.
The Bury factory is the third of four factories to go live in the East of England which sees 7.5million tonnes of sugar beet processed every year.
As well as sugar the company transforms all the crop’s raw materials into topsoil, animal feed and makes Bioethanol. It also exports enough electricity to power 160,000 homes.
Some 3,600 sugar beet growers have their crop processed each year.
