Arson is suspected in a fire in 800 large bales of straw stacked in Hurdle Drove, West Row, this morning.

The fire was discovered at about 4.30am in the 250 tonnes of straw. Suffolk Fire Service said the bales are being allowed to burn under supervision.

The fire crew from Mildenhall reported to cause as suspicious and Suffolk Police are asking anyone with information to call PC Emma Macduff at Mildenhall Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

It is the third time the farm has had a straw bale fire. A fire on the same site in 2010 was also thought to be arson and in 2011 22 fire fighters worked through the night after a 30m barn nearby, containing 2,000 bales, caught fire.
