Taxpayers in West Suffolk could be hit by rising council tax bills from next year due to reductions and uncertainty over future Government funding.

According to its new Medium Term Financial Strategy, St Edmundsbury Borough Council expects to make a two per cent increase in council tax for three years from 2015/16.

The authority has frozen council tax over the last four years including 2014/15 after receiving subsidy grants from the Government.

However, a grant of £295,000 for 2014/15 is set to drop to £128,000 in 2015/16 with uncertainty over the level of future support.
