On your marks! Hundreds of runners put their best foot forward for a vital children’s charity at an event around the picturesque grounds of Ickworth.

About 320 runners descended on the Horringer country estate for the 5km and 10km ‘hoohaah’ races in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The event is part of a series of runs organised by Alison Cronk and Hannah Hodgson, who aim to raise £15,000 over the year to ‘pay for a day’ at each of the three hospices run by EACH.

The winners Kevin Murphy and Cath Jeffrey, who are both members of local running club Saint Edmund Pacers, crossed the finish line at 35:58 and 44:33 respectively.

Mrs Hodgson said: “It was a wonderful day and perfect running conditions. The feedback from the runners was fantastic.”
