CHARITY CHALLENGE: Walkers Sean Clarke, Chas Driscoll, Kevin Driscoll, Neil Hutson and Bill Pearson at Brentford Football Club

A group of football fans who walked 73 miles around every top London club and had pictures taken on the pitches will be selling more than 50 sporting items in a charity auction next week.

Kevin Driscoll, 48, from Bury St Edmunds, was one of five walkers to complete the challenge earlier this month in memory of his father, Dennis, who died of cancer last year, aged 75.

Dennis was secretary for the Bury Interclub Dart League and was a fund-raiser for St Nicholas Hospice Care, which is where he passed away.

Money from the auction – being held in LP in Woolhall Street from 7.30pm on Wednesday – will be split between the Bury hospice and The Bobby Moore Fund for cancer research.

It is expected to bring the total fund-raised to around £10,000.

Auction items – which can be viewed online at www.walk4dennis.co.uk – include 22 signed football shirts, highlights being a Real Madrid shirt signed by Gareth Bale and a Liverpool shirt signed by England captain Steven Gerrard, as well as boxing, golf and motorsports memorabilia.

Former British boxing champion Dave ‘Boy’ Green is also due to attend.

“It’ll be a fun, interesting night for any sports fan,” said Kevin.

A signed Ipswich Town shirt is also up for grabs in a raffle being held on the night.
