Staff at a Bury St Edmunds firm have kicked off the new year with a charitable delivery of hand-made bird boxes and tables.
The team from Festool UK Power Tools, in Saxham Business Park, delivered the items to St Nicholas Hospice Care on Wednesday, after having crafted them in December.
The 13 bird boxes and six bird tables, which were all built using Festool Power Tools, will be placed around the Hospice’s landscaped gardens and attached to the many trees in its wooded area.
Abby Mayes, Hospice Corporate Fund-raiser, said: “Many of our patients enjoy looking at or spending time in the gardens, so we try to make the environment as pleasant as possible. The Hospice gardens attract all kinds of wildlife, so these tables and boxes are a very welcome donation.
It is not the first time the team has helped the Hospice. Last year it handed over outdoor furniture, including a hand-made table and bench.
Stephan Bagshaw, Festool UK Sales and Marketing Director, said: “We chose to support St Nicholas Hospice Care again with our end-of-year project after receiving such great feedback from the team there last year regarding our benches and tables.
“We’ve made sure that the bird tables are at various levels to ensure wheelchair users can help to feed the birds.
“Everyone involved really enjoyed building the items and we hope the Hospice residents enjoy watching the wildlife grow.”
