West Suffolk Hospital has seen a 46 per cent rise in people visiting A and E more than 10 times a year.

A freedom of information request has revealed that the hospital saw 37 patients using A and E more than 10 times in 2010/11, rising to 47 in 2011/12 and 54 in 2012/13.

Nationally, more than 12,000 used A and E more than 10 times in 2012/13 and more than 150 visited more than 50 times. The worst repeat patient made 234 visits in a year.

However, West Suffolk Hospital reports nobody visiting more than 50 times.

Last month two Suffolk clinical commissioning groups launched a hard hitting cinema advert urging people not to clog up A and E. To see the story and advert video click here
