Despite the heavy showers, about 2,000 people savoured a cavalcade of family fun with a rural twist during an action packed fair.

Crowds braved the thunder storms and rain over the weekend to enjoy the second West Suffolk Country Fair at Rougham Airfield.

The varied entertainment included a sheep show, birds of prey, owl displays, goat show and an array of full and scale steam engines.

Meanwhile, there was also the Knights of Honour medieval village and the Fighting Knights, Ivor Williams Pony Scurry display and children’s entertainment.

Another highlight was the Companion Dog Show with proceeds from Sunday going to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Organiser Charlie Owen, who runs Oakleigh Fairs, based in Colchester, said: “Everyone who came had a lovely time. It was a family show for all ages based on traditional rural activities.”
