RAIL bosses have apologised for delivering an unsatisfactory service to rail passengers in and around West Suffolk.
Last month, Abellio Greater Anglia replaced National Express East Anglia as the operator for the region’s mainline routes, forming an alliance with Network Rail.
On Friday, Rudd Haket, managing director of Greater Anglia, and Dave Ward, route managing director of Netwrok Rail Anglia, issued a joint statement apologising to their customers.
They said: “It’s been a month since Greater Anglia took over as the operator of the train service across the region and we are the first to admit that our performance has not been to the level expected nor demanded by you, our customers, during this time and for this we are sorry.”
They outlined key issues that have caused disruption, including a late running freight train, over-running engineering work, winter weather, problems with overhead wires and train faults.
Ross Taylor, secretary for Mid Anglia Rail Passengers Association, said: “It’s disappointing but it’s still early days, the infrastructure is still what it was. We’re desperate to see some improvement, as all people are who use the trains.”
