Two men serving with the RAF Regiment at Honington have received honours in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Squadron Leader John Rees received an MBE for his ‘operationally focused leadership and outstanding performance, his immense contribution to the nation, Ddefence and his service has been far in excess of any reasonable expectation”.

Sq ldr Rees said: “I am extremely proud and humbled to have received such an honour and is a testament to all those who have supported me through numerous tours of duty but more recently in Africa. In particular, it is my close family who have endured the brunt of the hardships when I have deployed and it is to them I am most grateful”.

Sqn Ldr Rees was brought up all over the world as the son of an RAF Regiment Officer and is currently the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Force Protection Headquarters. He lives with his wife Louise at Kinloss in Scotland.

Warrant Officer John Gall MBE, pictured left, received the Meritorious Service Medal.

WO Gall said: “There are many in the Royal Air force who are delivering at the highest levels on a daily basis as individuals and team members.

“Such individuals have supported me through numerous testing tours, but more recently their support to me as the Station Warrant Officer at RAF Honington was outstanding.

He lives in Stanton with his wife and son and has been a regular at all the recent parades and ceremonial events in Bury St Edmunds Brought up in Dumbarton Scotland, he has travelled the world during his time serving with the RAF Regiment.
