Pupils and villagers were given a glimpse into the past as a primary school in Hockwold opened a museum to celebrate its 100 year anniversary.

Iceni Academy Hockwold set up the one-off museum where members of the community brought in artefacts and photos from the last century and youngsters displayed their work.

Showcasing old photos of former students and items such as vintage radios and cassette tapes, the exhibition also featured an example of a classroom from 100 years ago.

Assistant principal Emma Owner said: “It was brilliant. We got members of the community to sign the visitors book - one person put ‘what a lovely day, educational and fun too’.”

Children released 100 balloons, enjoyed games from a century ago and buried a time capsule containing a jumper with the school logo, their work and a copy of the national curriculum. Meanwhile, former headteachers Joyce Froud and Sheila Litherland attended. The school originally opened as Hockwold Primary.
