Police have discovered a body believed to be that of a man accused of child sex offences.

Martin Knock, 49, of The Row, Hartest, was due to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday facing 10 charges of assaulting a girl aged under 13 by touching and another three of assaulting a girl aged under 13 by penetration.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police confirmed that officers attended an address in The Row, Hartest, at about midday on Monday where a man was found dead.

He said: “The man’s death at this stage is being treated as unexplained but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

“Formal identification of the man has not taken place; therefore police are not able to confirm any details about the deceased man.”

The coroner has been informed.
