Suffolk’s police chief and Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) will be continuing their tour of the county with a visit to Bury St Edmunds tomorrow.

Chief Constable Douglas Paxton and PCC Tim Passmore will set up base with the mobile police station in the arc shopping centre and will be available from 11am-2pm for members of the public to speak to about any issues.

Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team will also be there to answer any queries about policing or community matters, as well as Crime Reduction Officers and representatives from Suffolk Safekey.

Mr Paxton said: “Our visits so far have gone really well and we have enjoyed speaking to everyone who has come along to see us.

“We know that the majority of people in Suffolk are happy with the policing they receive and this is excellent news. We need to make sure that this continues and one way we can make sure this happens is to get out and about, within our towns, to listen to the views and opinions of local people.

“The events were a huge success last year. It is great that Tim is joining me this year and I would encourage all to come along to speak with us, as well as the local teams.”

Mr Passmore said: “Having direct contact with the people of Suffolk that I represent is extremely important to me.

“I make myself available to anyone who needs to speak to me through one-to-one surgeries or via e-mail and on the phone, but it is equally important to have these opportunities for people to just turn up and have a conversation with us.

“I do hope people will accept this invite to come and find out more about policing. Douglas and I will be pleased to discuss any matter that arises.

“Public engagement is a key responsibility for every PCC and covering such a large geographical area, this is quite a challenge so we have set up meetings and roadshows in each district and borough.”
