A Suffolk-based coffee company is seeking planning approval to bring an empty shop in Bury St Edmunds back into use.

Independent firm Paddy and Scott’s is looking to open a cafe in the Abbeygate Street unit previously used by the West Cornwall Pasty Company, which has remained closed since the company went into administration earlier this year.

In its planning application submitted to St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Paddy and Scott’s said it was ‘in the process of opening a chain of new cafes and one of the first is proposed for Abbeygate Street’.

A decision on the application is expected to be made next month.
