Pupils at Sebert Wood Primary School are keen swimmers so Joanne Jackson was the ideal Olympian to inspire them.
Joanne has swum in three Olympics and won a bronze medal at Beijing, which she took to the school.
Head teacher Peter Dewhurst said: “She was a good choice because we do a lot of swimming. We do swimming from year two to four.”
Joanne, who visited under the Sports for Schools scheme, joined each year at the school in a sponsored activities to raise funds for PE resources and charity before giving an inspirational speech and answering questions.
The children have raised £2,800.
In a separate book and toy sale recently, organised bypupils from year three , they raised £180 for Save the Children.
