A break-in at public toilets in Thetford was not recorded on CCTV, despite being in a police ‘hotspot’ area, it was revealed last week.
Damage to the toilets in Cage Lane and damage to the fencing alongside the Carnegie Rooms, opposite the toilets, was discovered last month.
The total cost of the repairs was £287.
At a meeting last week, town clerk Maurice Howard told councillors the incidents had not been captured on CCTV, even though they took place in the ‘hotspot’ town centre area.
A spokeswoman for Breckland Council, which owns CCTV in the area, was unable to say why there was none.
