A new smartphone app giving visitors to Bury St Edmunds the chance to tour the town with information at their fingertips has proved a great success.

The free Town Tour app guides visitors around the town and includes an audio tour featuring landmark attractions in Bury St Edmunds.

The app was built by Jabu Designs in Abbeygate Street and is supported by Our Bury St Edmunds, as well as St Edmundsbury Borough Council.

Alongside a map and pictures with audio description there are also conversations between characters from the town’s history.

The app was launched two weeks ago and does not need internet connection, Mike Pepper from Jabu Designs, which also built the ourburystedmunds app, said: “The take up has been fantastic with nearly 250 downloads and more than 175 of them during the Christmas Fayre.” To access the app search for Bury St Edmunds town tour.
