A new venture to encourage young people to enjoy music making is being launched in Brandon.

Music Arts Project MAP is opening a new facility at the Harvey Adams Centre in Wimbledon Avenue which will enable young people to experience a range of arts and musical activities.

As part of the project MAP is co-ordinating a series of public gigs which will be staged at Brandon Leisure Centre, the first being held on February 14. The events are available to young people up to the age of 19 and anyone wishing to take part can attend band workshops in preparation for their public performances.

The MAP Brandon project is being run in partnership with Arts Development in East Cambridgeshire, ADeC, and has been funded by Youth Music.

Project manaher Nathan Jones said: “If you are a local musician looking for a chance to blow away the winter blues then we want to hear from you. It doesn’t matter what ability level, age or style of music. Get in touch and we will arrange for you to attend band workshops to get you ready for the show.”

Organisers also want to hear from young people interested in learning about helping to run the event. To find out more go to www.musicartsproject.com
