The mother of Stowmarket teenager Lily Webster, who died in 2012 from sudden adult death syndrome, has joined more than 1,000 participants in this year’s Heart of London Bridges Walk.

Melanie Webster, along with family and friends, took part in the event on July 6 to raise money and awareness for charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

The walkers left Victoria embankment at 11am and finished at the Hay’s Galleria, near London Bridge three hours later.

On the way they passed 12 of the capital’s most famous landmarks – representing the 12 apparently ‘fit and healthy’ young people who die every week from sudden, undiagnosed heart conditions.

Melanie’s efforts come just weeks after more than 200 young people were given free heart screenings at Stowmarket High School.
