Mortal Kombat takes twins to Las Vegas

X Box playing brothers Jake and Ryan Neal have been invited to compete at the EVO competition in Las Vegas.

A PASSPORT delay meant twins Jake and Ryan Neal missed out on a trip to Chicago won when Ryan became European champion of the Xbox game Mortal Kombat.

But it has turned out for the better because instead of going to the windy city to meet the game’s creators, Warner Brothers is instead flying the 19-year-old twins from Bury St Edmunds to sunny Las Vegas for the Evolution World Games Championships. It features championships of five games, including Mortal Kombat.

Jake said: “This prize works out better for us. Because we’ve both played Mortal Kombat competitively, this is really beneficial to us. It’s also the chance to take part in a world championship.”

The pair are planning to meet up in Vegas with USAF personnel from RAF Mildenhall who are keen players.

Ryan’s winning streak started with success in an in-store competitoion which was one of eight held nationally. That took him to a UK final at the Gadget Show Live in Birmingham and he won the European title in April last year.

Chicago would have been their first trip abroad, but when they applied for their passports one of them used the wrong coloured ink to fill in the form, which was not spotted by the Post Office Check and Send service, so the application was sent back.
