About 200 homes in West Row are without phone and internet services following an attempted cable theft.

About 200 homes in West Row are without phone and internet services following an attempted cable theft.

A spokesperson for BT Openreach has said that two large cables were cut on Monday.

Engineers are working to replace about 450 metres of cable.

The spokesperson said: “The repair work is extremely complex and time-consuming and Openreach engineers are working as fast as they can on the repair. We apologise to those people who have been affected, Openreach engineers are working to restore service as soon as possible.”

Openreach has a partnership with Crimestoppers, which offers up to £1,000 reward for information leading to arrests and subsequent successful convictions related to cable theft. People can call anonymously and free on 0800 555 111.
