Mildenhall College Academy's FreezeOver

*Students from Mildenhall College Academy slept rough in freezing temperatures to raise £2,000 for Shelter, Water Aid and Action Aid.

Last week 65 students from the school put on their winter coats and braced the chilly weather.

The FreezeOver event was organised by geography teacher, Daniel Mullen.

He said: “You know when you have a ‘good idea’ but think, no - that’s silly... it’ll never happen. Well it did - and, thanks to the support of the youngsters, MCA staff and a raft of other adults - including local businesses - it was an unprecedented success!”

Through the night students were entertained by live music and enjoyed hot chocolate around incinerators.

Three members of St John’s Ambulance were on hand along with a firefighter. Visits were also made by PCSOs and members of the school’s staff during the night.

Local businesses supported the students efforts with Woollards donating wood and Muti Signs Ltd a banner, while Wilkinsons and Corner Stores donated vouchers.
