Owners of a motor sport stadium facing closure following a couple’s noise complaints are calling for others to join their fight.

Owners of a motor sport stadium facing closure following a couple’s noise complaints are calling for others to join their fight.

A petition drawn up by the owners of Mildenhall Stadium to save their business and change the law has been signed by 18,000 people.

The stadium is facing the possibility of closure after losing a Supreme Court battle against a couple who moved to the area and complained about noise making the stadium a ‘nuisance’.

Owner Michael Coventry said those he had spoken to about the case had been ‘absolutely disgusted’.

He has launched the petition calling for the law to be changed to prevent people moving to an area taking legal action against existing businesses with local support.

He has said that the a similar case could be brought against any outlet that created noise, including football stadiums and entertainment venues.

Mr Coventry said the stadium has had a busy month and received support from motor sports fans but is calling on all who could be similarly affected to sign the petition.

The petition can be signed here: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/62894
