Mildenhall Market Place hurtled back in time to the Medieval period last weekend.

Medieval knights, grave robbers and nobility gathered in the market place for music, dancing, cookery, games and a lesson in the town’s history.

The events, which continued throughout the weekend, marked the 600th anniversary of the granting of Mildenhall’s market charter, since when a market has been held in the town on Fridays.

Forest Heath District Council cabinet member for economic development and tourism, David Bowman, said: “It went very well - everybody that took part was very pleased with how it went.”

As well as the events in the market place, guided tours, a pageant charting the market’s progress and a fancy dress competition helped transport people back in time.
