Mildenhall’s Bunbury Players got front row seats to see the fictional Bunbury Players in the West End.

The amateur dramatists were invited to the first night of a new production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest at the Harold Pinter Theatre by Nigel Havers, who plays Algy Moncrieff in the play about the ‘Bunbury Company of Players’.

Real Bunbury’s chairman Darren Mather said: “Who would have thought that a phone call from Nigel Havers, would culminate in the Bunbury Players gaining a patron, and us rubbing shoulders with the likes of Martin Jarvis, Sian Phillips and Rosalind Ayres. We felt like celebrities ourselves.”
