Forest Heath District Council (FHDC) has decided to withdraw its grant to Mildenhall Community Partnership.

Cllr Robin Millar, Forest Heath Cabinet member for Families and Communities said: “Frankly there are always more projects than there is money. Living costs are higher and to keep council taxes frozen our question is how do we make sure support goes to what people really care about?

“Who is rolling up their sleeves, joining with others, using what they have to tackle the things that concern them? Rather than give to groups to pass on, we have given every councillor a locality budget they can use to support people who are tackling the things they care about in their wards.”

Mildenhall Community Partnership produces the Mildenhall Messenger, runs competitions for young people, supports Mildenhall in Bloom and gives funds to town groups.

The partnership has said it has enough funding to continue for one year and will seek alternative funds.
