A masterplan for 500 homes, community facilities and a secondary school at Moreton Hall has passed the first stage of approval by councillors.
The masterplan, prepared by Taylor Wimpey for the area which is one of Vision 2031’s five strategic housing sites, was backed by St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s sustainable development working party on Tuesday.
Considered as a blueprint for the development of the site, it includes 500 homes, a local centre with community facilities, a secondary school, football ground and allotments.
During the meeting, Cllr Peter Stevens said the plan delivers an Eastern boundary with natural landscaping and ‘prevents development creep towards the surrounding villages’.
The masterplan will now go before the authority’s cabinet and full council to be adopted as non-statutory planning guidance.
