A man has been given a 12 month community order for assaulting his father and girlfriend in a car on Boxing Day.
Liam Fairfull, 23, of Edgecomb Road, Stowmarket, pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to two counts of assault by beating.
Prosecuting, Carol Huston said the incident occurred on Boxing Day while the three were in the defendant’s father’s car.

She said alcohol played a big part in the incident.
“He admitted he had been drinking and was waving his arms around and may have hit his girlfriend,” she said.
Fairfull, who was represnting himself in court, said in mitigation: “I am trying to change, I am just dealing with problems with alcohol and depression”
Presiding magistrate Jim Spencer said: “We have recognised to a certain extent you have seen your need for help and believe you when you say you desire to get things right.”
Fairfull was given a 12-month community order with supervision, an alcohol specified activity requirement, made to pay costs of £85 and a £60 victim surcharge.
