Man in court for growing cannabis

A man from Stowmarket has received 60 hours of unpaid work after growing six cannabis plants at his home.

Mark Able, 35, of Drake Close, Stowmarket, pleaded guilty to producing a class B drug at Bury Magistrates’ Court on last Thursday.

Prosecuting, Colette Griffiths said when police searched Able’s house on November 19, they found six plants and specialised growing equipment. In mitigation David Shipman said Able had past problems with drugs and had grown cannabis to avoid contact with old aquaintances. Able received a 12 month community order, £40 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
