A Suffolk lorry driver who died in an accident at a Toyota factory in Derbyshire has been named.

Paul Nodding, 56, of Ryefields, Thurston, died following the incident at the plant in Burnaston where he is understood to have become trapped between two lorries on Wednesday January 22.

He worked for Goldstar Transport, a logistics company based in Felixstowe, and was visiting the site to deliver a container of parts and to collect an empty container.

Police and members of the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the incident, which is not being treated as suspicious.

An inquest into Mr Nodding’s death was opened and adjourned at Derby Coroner’s Office by assistant coroner Louise Pinder.

In a previous statement, a spokesman for Toyota Manufacturing UK said: “We are supporting the police and Health and Safety Executive with their inquiries.

“Our thoughts continue to be with the driver’s family and friends and we extend our sincere condolences to them.”
